GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS

Our work with Mapuche Communities in the Commune of Temuco, Capital of Chile`s Ninth Region started with the goal of promoting self-management organizations to watch over the living conditions of families and communities considering their cultural aspects and local resourses both material and human.

A few years later the work was extended to other communes as Puerto Saavedra which has now been declared a Native Development Area, Adi Budi; and communes like Nueva Imperial, Padre Las Casas, Curarrehue, Melipeuco, Vilcún and Galvarino have also been focused on, for the job that the Corporation does in the Araucanía Region.

Our institution has also been present at the Alto Bio-Bio territory in the Eighth Region, territory which`s future is uncertain because of the Hydro-electric Plants` persistence to continue developing the big project of building dams on Mapuche-Pehuenche land.

At the Panguipulli commune in the Tenth Region or The Lake Region, our institution has given advise to several associations and communities with the ends of helping them come up with development propositions regarding the needs.

Finally our organization aims at strengthening the Mapuche Identity, improving the living conditions and further, attaining a greater recognition as people and being recognized by the Chilean Society
